Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta has called for unity and respect for the Constitution as he opened Parliament on Tuesday.
“My government will not tolerate anyone intent on disrupting our hard-won peace and stability. Under no circumstances must Kenyans ever allow our free competitive processes to become a threat to the peace and security of our nation,” Kenyatta said.
“We shall continue to encourage vibrant democratic competition; we shall not allow destructive division.”
In a related development, opposition leader Raila Odinga has called for the resignation of election officials in charge of the August 8 elections which he claimed was inaccurate.
