Two African women have emerged winners of the 2017 Africa Food Prize for African achievers in agriculture.
Professor Ruth Oniang’o an academician from Kenya, and Mrs. Maïmouna Sidibe Coulibaly an entrepreneur from Mali received the prize money of $100,000 for their commendable effort towards improved farming in Africa.
Mrs. Maïmouna Sidibe Coulibaly is the founder of Faso Kaba Seed Company in Mali, a company that was founded on a platform that seeks avenues of solving food shortage problem in Mali while Professor Ruth Oniang’o is the founder and leader of Rural Outreach Programm, community-based organisation that invests in rural farmers to produce and process yields at the grassroots.
