The African Union Commission has called on Africans and international partners to come to the aid of Sierra Leone after a mudslide disaster in Freetown which killed about 312 people on Monday.
The appeal was made by the African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat as more than 2,00 people have been rendered homeless by what is termed as one of the worst natural disasters to ever hit the country.
Moussa also called on countries public health system to treat mudslide victims and join in managing the outcome of the disaster.
Red Cross and security bodies were deployed to rescue people that were trapped by the flood.
