Senegalese President Macky Sall has restored the office of Prime Minister, and appointed Former Economy Minister, Amadou Ba, as Prime Minister.
Recall that the Office of Prime Minister was abolished in April 2019 and the appointment of Ba, came two months after a tense legislative election in which Sall’s ruling coalition lost its comfortable majority.
The presidency disclosed this through a statement made available to newsmen.
However, Ba, a 61-year-old taxation specialist whose new appointment re-established the position of the Prime Minister was also a former Foreign Minister in the West African Country.
But Ba, on National Television after meeting with Sall said, “The major priorities that the president has outlined include improving household purchasing power, taming inflation, security, housing, vocational training, employment and entrepreneurship”.
