For the benefit of the younger generation in Rwanda, the National Teachers’ Union has considered an increased support for all female teachers in Rwanda, as paramount.
The union, therefore, calls for a more intense support to female teachers in order to promote education in the country.
They claim that these female teachers serve as mothers and educators to the children hence the need to support them for increased output.
Speaking at the recently concluded 4th congress of Rwanda Teachers’ Union, captioned, ‘social and economic development as a pillar of quality education’, which focused on the role of women teachers in improving the quality education, the president of the teachers’ union, Faustin Harelimana said for the delivery of high-quality education to the masses, social and economic development of their members must become a priority.
Rwanda women constitute about 52 percent of the country’s population and 54 percent of the teachers in the country are women, hence the emphasis on increasing support to female teachers.
