Bill Gates, one of the world’s richest men, was recently hosted by President William Ruto at the State House in Nairobi.
Gates arrived in Kenya for a series of engagements and visited Makueni County where he met Governor Mutula Kilonzo and the Makueni Mother & Child hospital, then the Kathonzweni Level 3 Hospital where he met with medical staff and community health volunteers.
In a meeting with Gates, Ruto commended the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which is co-chaired by the billionaire Microsoft owner, for its support to Kenya and Africa in various areas such as healthcare and agriculture.
“We appreciate the support the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation continues to extend to Kenya, Africa in realizing our development goals, especially in the areas of healthcare, agriculture and ICT sectors.
“We will continue to collaborate towards the realization of food security and universal health coverage in our country.”
Gates is expected to give a talk on Innovating for Food Security and Climate Change in Africa. The event will be streamed live from the University of Nairobi.
