…acknowledges his philanthropic strides
Rotary International, an organization with the stated purpose of bringing together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world, has commended Mr Sam Ogrih, Managing Director/CEO of Delta Mega-Trend Ltd, for supporting the work of the organization to improve lives. In a letter jointly signed by Holger Knaack, President, Rotary International 2020-21; K.R. Ravindran, Chair, The Rotary Foundation, 2020-21, on behalf of the board of directors, the organization acknowledged his contributions towards supporting the work of Rotary International.
The letter partly reads, “As a Major Donor, you join an international group of compassionate people who are committed to serving others, no matter what the challenge is. Today — because of you — another generation of Rotarians can care for their communities in times of uncertainty and need.”
The letter further states that “because of your generosity, Rotary Opens Opportunities by finding solutions that change lives and make communities more resilient. Your support is critical as we work together to address new and urgent humanitarian challenges.
Congratulations on this wonderful philanthropic achievement, and thank you for building a better world with The Rotary Foundation.”
Rotary International was founded in 1905 by Paul Harris. A Chicago attorney, Mr Harris formed the Rotary Club of Chicago so that professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships.
Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world.
In the midst of the First World War, at Rotary’s 1917 convention, President Arch C. Klumph proposed that Rotary establish an endowment. At the time, families around the world were dealing with fear, loss, and devastation. But in the face of unimaginable hardship, the idea of what Klumph called “doing good in the world” took root. Rotarians offered their neighbours support and fellowship. And Klumph’s suggestion eventually resulted in The Rotary Foundation that funds so much of the service that Rotarians do today.
The visions of the founders of Rotary ties-in perfectly with the vision of Mr Ogrih.
