Oluyemi Sumbo Obadare Honoured with the African Leadership Commendation Award on Governance Risk and Compliance at ABLA 2024

Oluyemi Obadare, the Chief Executive Officer of Certification Partner Global (CPG) West Africa, a full-scope certification body, has been awarded the prestigious African Leadership Commendation Award on Governance Risk and Compliance at the 14th African Business Leadership Awards (ABLA) 2024. The award, a flagship annual recognition by the African Leadership Magazine, acknowledges exceptional achievements and contributions in the business sector across Africa.

 

Obadare held positions with the Nigerian Exchange Group and its affiliates as Acting Chief Risk Officer and Head of Information Security and Business Continuity prior to joining CPG. In these roles, she was responsible for managing the Group ERM department, which included risk management, internal control, information security, and business continuity management.

 

In a poll conducted by the African Leadership Magazine for the African Business Leadership Awards 2023, Oluyemi Obadare emerged as the winner of the African Leadership Commendation Award on Governance Risk and Compliance. Her  leadership and dedication to CPG continues to deliver significant contributions to the world of standards and accreditations.

 

The African Business Leadership Awards is renowned for celebrating excellence in leadership, innovation, and impact on the continent’s economic development. These awards highlight individuals, companies, and institutions that demonstrate outstanding corporate practices and leadership in Africa’s business sector, aligning with the magazine’s tradition of showcasing often overlooked aspects of Africa’s businesses and leaders.

 

The award ceremony was a major highlight of the ALM Africa Summit London 2024, a platform for high-level networking, collaboration, and forming strategic partnerships to address challenges and drive change in Africa. Established in 2016, the summit showcases innovative projects and best practices aligned with the continent’s development goals.

 

The 2024 edition of the African Leadership Magazine Africa Summit, themed “Africa Unleashed: Navigating Disruptions, Enhancing Opportunities,” provided a strategic platform for leaders to discuss sustainable development pathways. The summit featured esteemed speakers, including The Right Hon. Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa, Speaker of the Liberia House of Representatives; Dr. Olavo Correia, Deputy Prime Minister & Minister for Finance of Cape Verde; The Right Hon. Lord Dollar Popat, UK House of Lords Member & Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Rwanda, Uganda & DRC; and H.E. Rindra Rabarinirinarison, Minister of Economy & Finance of Madagascar. These leaders, along with other distinguished guests from Africa, the UK, and Europe, convened to discuss key issues affecting Africa’s business and socio-economic landscape.

 

The esteemed speakers and attendees shared their valuable insights, experiences, and success stories. Further inspiring fellow participants to seek new strategies and partnerships for advancing Africa’s prosperity. The panel discussion focused on mobilising Africa’s leaders to reimagine Africa’s public-private sector as a catalyst for sustainable progress and development. Participants equally had the opportunity to collaborate and showcase investment opportunities in Africa.

 

Commenting on the award, Oluyemi Obadare expressed gratitude for the honor and revealed the importance of CPG’s  contributions to the world of standards and accreditation. She emphasized CPG’s dedication to strengthening customer experience for sustainable interactions and deepening business relationships, whilst, opening new frontiers across Africa.
