The unveiling ceremony which was held virtually was chaired by the African Leadership Organisation, founder and Chairman, Dr. Ken Giami. In his remarks, the Chairman, maintained that, “the challenges of last year, occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic, has not abated, yet, certain Africans have continued to push through a new narrative for the continent, making the continent a better place.”  Continuing, he maintained that, “our nominees are trailblazers, trendsetters and unrelenting in their push for a safe and secured future for the continent and her people, especially its youths.”

“These men and women have been selected from a long list of nominees, for their various enormous contributions and efforts towards addressing the intricate political, socio-economic, and health challenges the continent has been faced with during these unprecedented times – championing the narrative of a resilient and resurgent Africa,” he said.

The African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year Awards is Africa’s premier vote-based endorsement, reserved annually for the leading Africans who are contributing towards promoting the continent’s progress, and positively altering Africa’s perceived negative image. The annual event has also become a platform for honouring people-centred leadership and Africans that are pursuing a pan-African agenda in their chosen fields of endeavour. This year’s event will provide a platform to celebrate the continent’s purveyors of hope – business, political and diplomatic leaders who are helping us to see possibilities during a global pandemic that has refused to abate.
