According to President Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria and German company Siemens have agreed a road map to increase Nigeria’s “reliable” power supply to 11 000 MW by 2023.
The president of the West African country said that at present, “only an average of 4 000 MW reliably reaches consumers”. He said Nigeria would work with Siemens to achieve “7 000 MW of reliable power supply by 2021 and 11 000 MW by 2023”.
One of the promises of the Buhari administration has been the power sector reforms among others. In his campaign promise, he promised to tackle the issue of power that has troubled the country for years. Although the power situation across the country has been said to increase since the Buhari administration, many Nigerians still express hope for more.
