This week’s African of the week is H.E Macky Sall, the President of Senegal for creating an enabling environment for medical researchers to thrive and help curb the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.
Senegalese researchers have developed a $1 Covid-19 quick testing kit, everyone entering a health centre is tested for the novel Coronavirus, Senegal plans to produce 2 to 4 million kits for other African countries to help detect and isolate patients quickly.
Also, Senegalese engineers are currently using 3D printing machines to produce locally made ventilators for as low as $60 while foreign ventilators cost as much as $16,000.
Senegal also has the largest rate of recovery in patients infected with Coronavirus in Africa and the 3rd in the world.
