Lonestar Cell MTN Liberia has launched the ‘MTN Y’ello Star’ competition to feature Young Liberians across the country and help them showcase their vocal abilities in its first nationwide music contest.
The Lonestar Cell MTN Brand and Communications Manager, Abigail Nufeatalai, noted that the competition will help discover young talents in Liberia and enable them to grow their talent.
“This five-week competition, which starts today, is a platform that seeks to uncover new talent among the youth from 16 to 34, educate them and showcase their skills to the world.
The Y’ello Star competition is how we are developing Liberia’s next generation of hitmakers. In that way, we are enhancing the country’s culture and image through music” she said.
A key feature of the contest is the three-week Y’ello Academy or Bootcamp from where vetting of the initial contestants will take place and 30 artists will enter the Y’ello Academy.
Ms. Nufeatalai explained also that artists will receive voice lessons, learn how to market themselves, produce music, maximize studio time, among others during the competition. Only five contestants will make it to the finals in September where they will have the opportunity to perform with top artists.
