The United States Department of Transportation’s decision to allow Kenya Airways fly directly into the US presents a huge opportunity to Kenyan farmers.
For example, CEO of The Fresh Produce Exporters Association of Kenya (FPEAK), Hosea Machuki has stated that this development has opened a new opportunity for Kenyan avocados.
He also revealed that 18% of the agricultural produce currently being exported to The US from Kenya are fruits and nuts.
A two-day exhibition of fruits and flowers – the very first of its kind kicks off today, Wednesday at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies and it is aimed at addressing industry issues that make locally produced crops uncompetitive in the global markets among others.
