For sustainable economic growth and development in Africa, the continent’s youths must truly be engaged and working. This was the position of Mr. Ken Giami, Publisher and CEO of African Leadership Magazine UK. Mr. Giami made this known while presenting the Keynote at the recently held Nottingham Africa Summit.
Mr. Giami, the publisher of the leading Pan-African publication, African Leadership Magazine, joined other global business, political and diplomatic leaders in the annual gathering aimed at discussing the future of the continent.
While highlighting the importance of education, Mr. Giami noted that, “capacity building, education and building a knowledge economy is a sine qua non for Africa’s sustainable development,” and charged African leaders to take this as a priority.
Mr. Giami also spoke on the importance of the African Diaspora towards the promotion of sustainable development in the continent. In his words, ” deliberate actions and policy must be undertaken to encourage Africa’s Diaspora to want to come home and contribute to the innovative home gown solutions that Africa needs to be able to make the desired leaps in its development ambitions.”
This year’s event which was held under the theme: Towards a sustainable Africa-Harnessing & Maximizing Africa’s economic Potentials, provided a platform for engagement among thought leaders, business leaders, researchers, professionals, policymakers, and students.
Mr. Giami’s invitation as the Keynote Speaker for this year’s summit is hinged on his decade long commitment to the promotion of Africa as the continent of promise. Through his media conglomerate, including the African Leadership magazine, Dr. Giami has continued to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and development. He was also recently invited as a panelist during the recently held Oxford Africa Forum in London.
