The Trades Union Congress (TUC) of Ghana in a statement by the Union secretary has commended the government’s policy which made education at the senior high school level free.
The TUC Secretary General, Dr. Yaw Baah also admonished the government to make job creation a priority stating that; “The only way the cost of free SHS will pay for itself will be to put beneficiary Ghanaians to productive work.”
Furthermore, he admonished that the infrastructural development in the country’s tertiary institutions should be expanded to accommodate the influx of students expected as a consequence of the free SHS policy.
The SHS Policy was launched by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on September 13, 2017.
Also, it has been reported by The Ministry of Finance out of the GH¢486 million required to finance the policy implementation GH¢280 million has been released.
