Ethiopian Ministry, Chinese Firm Sign MoU For Construction Of International Stadium In Addis Ababa

Ethiopian Ministry of Youth and Sports, and China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) have recently signed an agreement for the construction of a sixty-thousand capacity stadium in Addis Ababa.

During the signing of the agreement, Youth and Sports Minister RedwanHussien said the government has allocated more than 2.47 billion birr (US$133m) budget for the construction of the first phase in which most of the construction would be completed.

The first phase of the stadium is expected to get finalized in two and half years.

The international stadium would fulfil the requirements of FIFA and IAAF and would have a capacity to host the opening and closing of World Cup and Olympic games, it was indicated.
Construction of the stadium that commences after 45 days will create 2,000 jobs, the minister added
General Manager of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, Song Sudong said on his part the construction will be finalized according to the schedule.
