Ethiopia and Ghana have signed an agreement providing for close partnership in the areas of peacekeeping, security and conflict resolution.
The agreement allows Ethiopia to work with Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in sharing experiences and organizing training programs.
Ethiopia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Tedros Adhanom and his Ghanaian counterpart Hanna Tetteh signed the deal at the KAIPTC in the presence of the leaders of the two nations.
The agreement facilitates increased exchanges in culture and tourism, communication, information and media fields.
Prime Minister Hailemariam on the occasion cited unstable situations in South Sudan, Somalia, Central African Republic, Burundi, Libya and other countries which challenge peace ensuring efforts in the continent.
The Premier said Ethiopia and Ghana are responding to such challenging situations making use of their leading role in the continent.
The agreement signed with the KAIPTC also paves way for experience sharing among peacekeeping institutions on both sides.
It was indicated on the occasion that Ethiopia and Ghana signed general partnership agreements some two years ago.
The KAIPTC is one of three institutions designated by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) as a regional Centre of Excellence for the delivery of training and research in the areas of conflict prevention, management and peace building
