Elizabeth C. Lungu-Nkumbula Appointed Country Head for the African Leadership Council in Zambia

Lusaka, Zambia — March 26, 2025 — The African Leadership Council (ALC), an initiative of the African Leadership Organisation and publisher of African Leadership Magazine and African Energy Infrastructure, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Elizabeth C. Lungu-Nkumbula, FIoDZ, as its new Country Head for Zambia.

A distinguished leader and accomplished executive, Dr. Lungu-Nkumbula brings over 30 years of experience in corporate governance, financial management, and social security systems. As the Founder and Chairperson of ENVIS Consulting Limited, she has championed ethical leadership and strategic innovation across Africa.

In her new role, she will lead ALC’s efforts to promote sustainable development, foster collaboration, and empower leaders in Zambia. With expertise in fund mobilization, treasury management, and corporate governance, she is well positioned to drive the Council’s initiatives forward.

Commenting on her appointment, Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Chairman of the African Leadership Council, stated:

“Dr. Lungu-Nkumbula’s remarkable achievements and dedication to leadership excellence make her an outstanding addition to the African Leadership Council. Her expertise will significantly contribute to shaping the future of leadership in Zambia and across the continent.”

Dr. Lungu-Nkumbula made history as the first female Chief Executive Officer and Commissioner of the Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board in Zambia. She has also held senior leadership roles in key financial institutions, including Pan African Building Society and Zambia National Building Society.

Beyond her corporate contributions, she is deeply engaged in civil and philanthropic initiatives. She serves as Chairperson of the Africa Vision Zero Network and is Co-Founder of the KAYEB Foundation. Additionally, she has represented Zambia on the global stage as Ambassador for the Patient Safety Foundation (USA) and Governor at the US-Africa Trade Commission.

Her contributions to governance, safety, and leadership have earned her international recognition. Among her many accolades, she has received the Global Female Leadership Impact Award, the Africa Most Influential Women Award (Continental Lifetime Achiever), and the Africa Safety Award for Excellence.
