Custom entities of Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana are set to create a conducive environment for the exchange of goods and services, free movement of people, and the exchange of information among the Customs entities of Ghana and Cote-D’Ivoire through the launching of a Computer Systems Integration for the exchange of Information in tandem between both entities.
The Abidjan-Lagos Trade and Transport Facilitation Project (ALTTFP) project was recently launched in Accra.
During the launch, the Commissioner General of the Ghana Revenue Authority, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Nti, spoke concerning the project stating that, the Abidjan-Lagos Trade and Transport Facilitation Project (ALTTFP) will lead to cordial relationship between Customs of Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana Revenue Authority, that will enhance the exchange Computer Systems Integration of Transit Information in tandem.
Various ministers and guest spoke during the event giving reasons why the project will be of great benefits to both customs service. The head of Customs of Cote D’Ivoire, Da Pierre Alphonse, said that the project will reduce the rate of smugglings and create an easy transfer of cargoes and increase revenue at the Customs Administration.
“We noticed that the project is so important that, it will permit between Lome and Elubo to reduce the timing of the transaction between the two borders and also permit to gain more time and increase revenues.” Mr. Da Pierre said.
Meanwhile, another essential purpose for this initiative is to improve the exchange of information on exports and transit between the Cote D’Ivoire and Ghana through their clearance systems.
