Angola has joined the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), local media reported Friday.
The country was admitted as an observer during the group’s 20th ministerial meeting in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, Jornal de Angola reported.
“Joining the GECF is a step in the right direction and aligns with the projects of Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço for transformation, growth and expansion of economic diversification through the monetization of gas,” African Energy Chamber executive chairman NJ Ayuk said.
GECF is an international governmental organization based in Doha, Qatar, with the purpose of bringing together the world’s leading gas producers. The forum supports the sovereign rights of member countries over their gas resources and their rights and capability to manage, develop, use and conserve these resources in a sustainable, efficient and environmentally aware way.
