Andre da Silva Neto, head of Angola’s electoral commission, CNE, expressed satisfaction regarding the smooth election process in Angola which held on Wednesday describing it as one that met international standards.
“It’s an example of how democratic elections should be carried out in any part of the world,” Neto said.
However, some polling units started the voting process late but they were allowed to stay open a little longer than the time scheduled for the close of the process which was 6 p.m. (1700 GMT).
Observers who witnessed and participated in the election agreed that voting was smooth across the country.
The election preliminary result is expected to be announced on Saturday.
