The African Public Service Forum is designed as a platform for sustaining the discussion on building a strong and virile public services sector in Africa. It is an avenue for shared experiences and best practices for the overall benefit of the citizens.
The public sector in Africa, has witnessed plethora of reforms in varying degrees, aimed at making the state effective, efficient, accountable, responsive and productive, which are the key ingredients and necessary conditions for development.
However, the intersection and synergies, between the reforms and the continent’s quest for development are usually poles apart, owing largely to the fact that some leaders lack the political will to fully implement the white papers that are often produced after such exercises; hence the need for a different approach towards evolving ways of meeting these challenges, as well as value reorientation amongst the continent’s public servants.
The forum therefore seeks to provide an unconventional system for peer review and shared experiences, towards introducing African public servants to globally acceptable standards in public service.
