Nairobi, Kenya — March 26, 2025 — The African Leadership Council (ALC), an initiative of the African Leadership Organisation and publisher of African Leadership Magazine and African Energy Infrastructure, is pleased to announce the appointment of QS. David Mathu, MBS, as its new Country Head for Kenya.

A distinguished expert in construction and management, Mathu has over 15 years of experience spanning both public and private sectors. He is renowned for his expertise in public policy, strategy, innovation, business development, and environmental sustainability—skills that will be instrumental in advancing the Council’s objectives.

As Country Head, Mathu will lead ALC’s efforts to foster transformative leadership, build strategic partnerships, and drive sustainable development in Kenya. His extensive background in construction research, capacity building, and innovative solutions will further enhance the Council’s impact across the country.

Commenting on the appointment, Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, Chairman of the African Leadership Council, stated:

“QS. David Mathu’s exceptional achievements and commitment to excellence make him the ideal leader to represent the African Leadership Council in Kenya. His leadership will undoubtedly drive meaningful change and advance the Council’s mission.”

Mathu is the Managing Director and CEO of the National Housing Corporation (NHC) in Kenya, where he oversees the strengthening of the country’s housing sector. Before that, he held senior leadership positions at the National Construction Authority (NCA), where he led initiatives in construction research, training, and business development. He also chairs the Future Minds Network, a platform for young parastatal CEOs in Kenya, and has served as a Council Member of the Institute of Quantity Surveyors of Kenya (IQSK).

His contributions to service delivery have earned him numerous accolades, including the prestigious Moran of the Order of the Burning Spear (MBS) award, conferred by the Head of State. In 2024, he was named co-winner of the Young African Business Leader of the Year Award by African Leadership Magazine, and in 2023, he was recognised as First Runner-Up for Best People-Focused MD/CEO by the Institute of Human Resource Management (IHRM).

Mathu holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Building Economics from the University of Nairobi and a Master of Science in Procurement and Logistics from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology. He is currently pursuing doctoral research in Management Science and Engineering at the Harbin Institute of Technology, China.

The African Leadership Council warmly welcomes QS. David Mathu to this important role and looks forward to his leadership in strengthening Kenya’s development and expanding the Council’s influence.
