When considering good music, Afrobeats often comes to mind as the quintessential representation of African sounds and rhythms. You can hardly go wrong with this choice.

Phyno, the Ezege 1 Ndi Igbo, returns with his fifth studio album, Full Time Job, following a noticeable hiatus from the music scene. This 15-track project features a stellar lineup of artists, including Cheque, Chip, FAVE, ArrDee, Flavour, NSG, Burna Boy, Johnny Drille, and even the infamous Hushpuppi, who makes an appearance via an interlude.

During his time away, Phyno focused on spending quality moments with his family, reflecting on his career, and strategising for the future. His efforts have evidently paid off, as fans have welcomed the new project with enthusiasm since its announcement, supported by a series of singles.

Ayra Starr, known as Sabi Girl, is not letting Phyno have all the glory. She has released a collaborative effort with global superstars Coldplay titled “Good Feelings,” a track that celebrates the beauty of true love.

Starr is riding high from her recent successes, including the launch of her critically acclaimed sophomore album and her collaborations with renowned figures such as Rihanna, Will Smith, and Chloe and Halle Bailey.

Blaqbonez makes a powerful return with “Haibo,” a hard-hitting freestyle that underscores his position as one of the leaders of Nigeria’s new school of hip-hop. He delivers his verses with the intensity of a warrior, and fans can only expect more greatness from him. Truly, Emeka is a stallion destined to shine in this industry.

Other notable releases in this edition of New Music Friday include:

  • Kaestyle – “Happy People”
  • Mavins, Andre Vibez & Dandizzy – “Like”
  • Juls, Black Sherif & Projexx – “Timing”
  • Humblesmith – “Sochi”

There has never been a better time to be a music lover, given the abundance of exceptional new music. Whether you enjoy Afrobeats, hip-hop, or something entirely different, there is bound to be something for everyone.
