Captain Musa Nuhu, the Director General of Nigeria’s Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA, is not a stranger to accolades. However, when a country acknowledges his leadership and strides, it bears retelling.
Capt. Nuhu was recently honoured by the Minister of Transportation of Sierra Leone, Honorable Kabineh Kallon, in recognition of his outstanding contributions and support to the success of the Sierra Leon’s Civil Aviation Authority and work for the Banjul Accord Group Aviation Safety Oversight Organization (BAGASOO) in the region. Capt. Nuhu is the Chairman of BAGASOO and has continued to work towards promoting safer skies across the sub-region and Africa at large.
A veteran Airman, Capt. Nuhu is leading a silent revolution in Nigeria’s aviation industry – deploying many years of industry experience to tackle some of the industry’s agelong challenges.
Local and international organizations have massively feted him for his visible strides in Nigeria’s aviation industry. He was presented with a Congressional Commendation and Resolution from the House of Reprehensive of the `State of South Carolina, USA. The Resolution was presented to the Director-General on the sidelines of the Lagos Business Forum & Networking Dinner by Honorable Rosalyn Handerson Myers, member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, USA. While presenting the award to the Director-General, Honourable Myers highlighted his contributions to the development of the Aviation sector in Nigeria and Africa while also commending him for his strict adherence to safety and standards in the discharge of his duties as the Chief safety inspection officer of the sector. In the presentation, Honorable Myers stated that the “Resolution was passed by the entire 124 members of the South Carolina House of Representatives and signed by Speaker Jay Lucas.” Honourable Myers stated that “the Resolution to Commend the Director-General has now been gazetted and shall remain in the annals of the state legislature for posterity.”
Similarly, Capt. Nuhu was also formally presented with the African Aviation Personality of the Year Award by Her Excellency Jewel Howard Taylor, Vice President of the Republic of Liberia. Captain Nuhu received the award during the African Legislative, Legal & Good Governance Conference held at the Sheraton Hotel & Towers, Abuja, Nigeria.
Captain Nuhu had, in February 2022, won the African Aviation Personality of the Year Award during the 10th African Leadership Magazine Persons of the Year, which was held at the iconic Dorchester Hotel, London.
He received the award alongside other distinguished African Business, Political and Diplomatic Leaders, including the President of Malawi, His Excellency Lazarus Chakwera.
Captain Musa Shuaibu Nuhu is the Director-General Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA); and the Chairperson of the Comprehensive Regional Plan for Aviation Safety in Africa and the Indian Ocean (AFI Plan), responsible for aviation safety, airspace, aerodromes and infrastructure development in Africa.
He has remained a stickler for safety and standards in Nigeria’s aviation industry management and administration.
Capt. Nuhu has consistently promoted local aviation companies globally and assisted in negotiating favourable partnerships with foreign airlines to aid growth, jobs and wealth creation.
Under the leadership of Capt. Nuhu, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, has won local and global commendations for quality service delivery and leadership excellence.
