The United Kingdom (UK) has removed Kenya from its Covid red list in a revision of its coronavirus travel regulations.
According to the UK’s Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, the vaccination regulations are revised to ease travel and access to the country allowing fully vaccinated travellers into the UK without taking COVID-19 tests, beginning October 4.
“We’re making testing easier for travel from Mon 4 Oct, if you’re fully vaccinated you won’t need a pre-departure test before arrival into England from a non-red country and from later in Oct, will be able to replace the day 2 PCR test with a cheaper lateral flow,” he said.
Joining Kenya on the list Egypt and a host of other countries. Shapps noted that part of the convenience considered towards international travel is the UK changing its approach to focus on a single red list.
Kenya hopes to harness the eased travel regulations to revive the tourism sector which has suffered the consequences of the Covid19 and lockdown. The country looks to improve its economy with tourism as the strains of Covid19 wear off.
