MTN Business Kenya has appointed Festus Kiragu as its acting managing director. This development took place after the departure of his predecessor, Kennedy Chinganya, mid-last month. Before his appointment, Mr. Kiragu held the position of CFO, MTN Business Kenya for over a year.
“As the process of finding a successor is underway, Festus Kiragu has been appointed as acting MD of MTN Business Kenya. He is currently the Head of Finance for MTN Business Kenya, where he is responsible for the finance and administration of the business,” a statement from MTN Business Kenya said.
His predecessor, Mr. Chinganya joined MTN Business Kenya in 2015 but left to pursue other interests. During his tenure as the Managing Director, Mr. Chinganya led the implementation of infrastructure projects resulting in the setting up of a tier 3 data center. He also led the improvement of the operations compliance and governance structures in alignment to MTN Group guidance and requirements.
Mr. Kiragu describes himself as a high potential professional with international work experience possessing vast knowledge of the African market in Corporate Strategy, Commercial and Sales Planning, Operational Efficiency, Change Management, and Financial Management.
MTN currently operates in over 22 countries, including South Africa, Kenya, Tanzania, Djibouti, UK, Netherlands, Nigeria, Cameroon, Zambia, Uganda, Ghana, Senegal, Côte d’Ivoire, Liberia, Cyprus, Benin, Guinea Conakry, Congo Brazzaville, and Angola.
