Nigeria and Germany signed two memoranda of understanding on agriculture and trade, which will increase cooperation and promote the role of small and medium companies in the African country.
One of the documents was negotiated between the local Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, and the German-African Business Association.
The second was sealed between the Risk Sharing System based on Nigeria Incentives for agricultural loans and the German company PETKUS Technologie GmbH, specialized in the post-harvest agricultural value chain.
We want our entities to learn from the German experience also in other areas of excellence of that nation, such as technical education, training and technical development, stated the Minister of industry, trade and investment of Nigeria, Okechukwu Enelamah at the signing ceremony.
According to the minister, Abuja also works with Berlin institutions in the automotive sector, a matter ‘where Germany is a leader and Nigeria has a policy to also be a leader in West Africa and in the continent in general.’
The representative of PETKUS Technologie GmbH, Peter Huser, assured that his company is interested in helping small farmers increase their performance, in particular through cooperation in production of plants and fertilization.
