The importance of the maritime sector cannot be undermined as it remains the most feasible means for facilitating trade between continents and islands. Its role is particularly enhanced in Africa whose exports are made of largely primary unprocessed commodities, bulky agricultural and natural energy resources. About 90% of the total trade of Africa is seaborne. However, increasing rates of piracy and sea crimes consistently plague the Gulf of Aden and the Gulf of Guinea affecting ports, trade lanes and the economic growth of affected countries, hence bringing to focus the need to tackle maritime insecurity. it will remain a challenge factor to the continent’s continual economic growth. It is for this reason that the Conference has been organized, so as to proffer solution to the diverse challenges hampering the growth of the Maritime Industry and economic activities in the region.
At the sidelines of the event, spot light will be shone on outstanding
entrepreneurs, companies and government agencies during the award dinner.
