According to the Assistant Divisional Officer (A.D.O. II) of the Municipality, Stanley Asiedu, the Agona West Municipality recorded forty-one fire outbreak accidents in second quarter of this year.

Mr. Stanley Asiedu said that the greater percentage of the cause is as a result of electrical failures in those areas.

Frank Fearon, the Municipal Fire Officer, Divisional Officer (D.O.II) said the problem is very disturbing, as personnel of the service are challenged by the situation.

Although there have been a reduction in the occurrence of the fire outbreak compare to the early part of the year, more strategies and solutions are to be initiated to stop the occurrence of the disaster. According to Mr. Stanley strategies like public sensitization and education on the dangers of fire outbreaks and how to prevent should be promoted.

Therefore the Ghana National Fire Service and the Municipal Assembly has appealed for the provision of urgent accommodation for personnel of the Service in those areas to strengthen an effective and quick response to fire causalities when they occur.
