Following the shortage of educational staffs in Kenya, the government has decided to employ 5, 000 teachers. 2,205 will be sent to primary school the rest will be recruited in secondary schools.
The Teacher’s service commission has outlined some requirements which include:
- Candidates must be a citizen of the Federation.
- He/she must fall under 45 years of age.
- He/she must be registered with the Teacher’s service commission and must provide necessary original certificates and other documents as stated by the chief executive officer of TSM.
The chief executive officer, Nancy Macharia said: “Interested candidates should submit their applications to county directors of education for primary schools and boards of management for post primary institutions not later than June 14.”
Currently, the teacher’s service commission operates annually with Sh200 billion and 305,000 teachers. However, to facilitate the recruitment process, The Commission was allocated Sh2 billion for the exercise.
Kenyans believe that to enhance the policy of free education in the country more staffs must be gainfully employed to teach and instruct the pupil/student. Therefore, the government has given their words to improve the working conditions for teachers and implement new collective bargains with an agreement in July.
